Really felt for her in this scene and had such bravery coming out with how she felt for him. I too have been in love with someone that doesn’t see me in that way, it’s heartbreaking. I wish I had her bravery to admit how I felt to the guy I really liked but it with someone else. Love the vulnerability Fi shares with Charlie and can somehow break free to move on

Just watched this movie and still can't understand why they thought Charles + Carrie is a good idea. I don't care if it's done iN thE nAme oF lOvE, she cheated with him while still having a fiancé 💀 Could have just ended their "thing" after she's gotten married instead of dragging it. It's so annoying to watch, and them having no chemistry didn't help, either. At one point I'd stopped caring about the main couple and was just hoping that Fiona would get a good ending. SHE'S PICTURED STANDING NEXT TO (THEN) PRINCE CHARLES?? That's it? This movie was enjoyable for the first 2/3 of it, then it becomes hard to watch...

I don't understand why this scene was deleted. To tell the truth, it gives more weight to Adhemar as antagonist, a classist, despotic and cruel count. that he feels overshadowed by the rookie Sir Ulrich, or rather he is scared of losing his undefeated record to a commoner.

I always wonder why Charlie is so fixated with the dreary American, Carrie (not that I have any thing against Americans) instead of Fiona, even after the revelation by Fiona. Curtis could have changed the trajectory for Charlie and Fiona. The same fixation happens too in Nottinghill when William Thacker falls head over hills over the humdrum Anna Scott, an American, no less. Wish that Curtis would have written in another love interest to add tension to the clueless lovelorn Thacker perhaps even including another “Fiona” to Anna Scott. For that matter, have always dread why Julia Roberts playing the love interest and not a English or European actress. But then again this is how we look at life - from our biased and narrow view of self.

this scene is beautifully poetic... and has always scared me............ as to how true it really rings......... its seems like a kind of "grass is always greener" metaphor but is it?... is it really?.... if you can see THAT grass... and are longing for THAT grass .... is it the greener" part you are even interested in... or the favorable humanity you see in some one else that doesn't yet see it in you...... so whats to be done but try to show that person.... but that never seems to work either........ its a timing thing... and a compatibility thing and a mutual thing..... that when you strip away the looks and the physical attractions if the HUMAN thing and respect is not there... it will almost certainly never last......... genuine admiration, mutual respect and a good sense of equal footing is what makes a relationship last... and if you find THAT.....
